“Botched by the Bot”: Why AI Can’t Replace My Soul (SOUL > SOFTWARE)

Let’s get this out of the way: I use AI. I collaborate with it.

But when it comes to creating—really creating

—AI is not the artist. I am.

Lately, I’ve noticed a shift. I’ll post a new promo, a fresh decal concept, or a new marketing campaign that took me hours to craft—and people assume AI did it.

Like I just clicked “generate” and walked away.

As if the heart, humor, and hustle behind it don’t count anymore.

Spoiler: They do. And they’re mine.

My Creativity Isn’t Just a Product—It’s Proof I’m Still Here!

Every promo I write, every sticker I design, every caption I tweak is layered with intention!

I think about the audience. I play with tone. I test colors and phrases until they feel right.

That’s not something AI can replicate. It can assist, sure. But it can’t feel.

The Assumption That Hurts

That if it’s good, it must be AI.

That if it's creative, it must be machine-made.

Apparently, human originality is suspicious unless we slap a “Made by actual person” sticker on it.

And if my work makes you question whether a machine did it—good.

AI didn’t sweat over this. I did. With coffee, chaos, and a deadline breathing down my neck.

I’m not here to prove anything. I’m here to create.

What AI Can Do (And Should)

• Help brainstorm when I’m stuck

• Offer structure when I’m juggling ideas

• Be a sounding board when I need one

  
  

But it should never be the voice. That’s mine. And I’m not giving it up.

Reclaiming the Creative Credit

I tried launching “Botched the Bot” once—a funny new bit highlighting AI’s artistic misfires.

IT WAS HILARIOUS and I KNOW it's something that EVERYONE can relate to when using AI features to create images.

My example:

I got no reaction. Whaaaaaat?????????

THIS is why I rarely and barely use AI for images....it's OBVIOUS, WEIRD and NOT ORIGINAL!

So note this peeps:

If you see something I made—know this: It most likely came from me. Maybe some clipart. Maybe stock footage.

Not a bot. BOTS SUCK
